Sean HunleyTitle: Director of the Cultural Center Sean began thinking about arts centers’ cultural and educational role when he worked as Development Coordinator on urban revitalization initiatives in Lynn, Massachusetts. From there, he taught at an international school in Hong Kong, where he started the school’s drama program. Without any facilities at the school, Sean forged partnerships with two Hong Kong arts institutions that confirmed and deepened his thinking about the mission overlap between arts centers and schools. At the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Sean was able to pursue these ideas more thoroughly, researching and writing about student agency in the learning process—students setting goals, making decisions, and doing inherently worthwhile work in a semi-permeable school setting that facilitates substantive connections between students and adults by constructing bridges to other institutions, especially cultural institutions. Here at Eagle Hill, Sean is delighted to help facilitate these kinds of connections right here on campus and in the larger community. |
