Where do they find the time? spaces shines a spotlight on the artwork of educators who are accomplished artists in their own right; who work all day in our schools with our children and then find time to make art.
Teacher/Artist/Teacher/Artist presents work in a variety of media created by educators of many subject areas, not just the visual arts. Kathryn Richardson, a Spanish teacher at the Hartsbrook School in Hadley and the Amherst Montessori School, speaks for many of the participants in this exhibit. “I find that my creative background allows me to view the art of teaching in a creative, problem solving and interdisciplinary way. All children benefit from the integration of the arts into their learning, and my background there allows me to foster these connections. I hope to continue as an artist and an educator throughout my life, delving into each more exclusively when the time is right, and weaving back into the other as my interests grow.”
